Open Sessions
How it works:
For the Musicians
Open Sessions seek to connect the University of Rochester Audio and Music Engineering program to local musicians in the Rochester, NY area. All open sessions are held in the newly built Gavett Recording Studio on the University of Rochester River Campus. All musicians are welcome to participate in an Open Session, however they will only be held once a month so spots are extremely limited. If you are a musician participating in an open session you should treat your session like you would a gig- invite your fanbase, friends, and following to experience your music in a live studio setting.
For the Engineers
Open Sessions are run by student engineers and serve to provide a way for those engineers to both gain experience in the studio and have work to showcase on their portfolios. For that reason, all Open Sessions are owned by both the artists and the engineers. All sessions will be released through band camp and presented on this website under the Archive tab. Artists are free to mix their Open Sessions further, release the mix as is, or keep it in the vault. .
